Trapped in Time ( Marmoset Toolbag refractive material study

Refractive materials have always fascinated me, so after seeing a photo of a prehistoric gecko encased & preserved in a piece of amber, i decided to recreate a similar setup in 3D, using the materials inside Marmoset Toolbag 5. The refractive material allowed me to put additional meshes innside the main amber asset ( bubbles, small pieces of tissue & skin, almost abstract swirly shapes) that could achieve good 3d effect of translucent amber that contains many pieces of foreign matter in it. Balancing rougher surface patches with smoother ones added very varied refraction, and making it look very clear or less so was very fun .
The gecko and the insect i modelled & textured in Zbrush with final touches in Substance Painter.
